- This restaurant guide just for Paris and its suburbs has over 600 listings. They are conveniently listed by arrondissement, so you can easily see which ones are nearer to your hotel. There are also maps showing where the listed restaurants are. Also very useful, there are indexes listing starred restaurants (not for us at those prices); restaurants with prix fixe menus for less than 30 euros; restaurants without a star but that have good food at reasonable (for Paris) prices (lot of attractive choices in this category); restaurants by type of cuisine (you want to try a restaurant specializing in cuisine of the Seychelles islands -- they've got one); restaurants with outdoor tables; restaurants open on Sat. & Sun. evenings (a key bit of info, since many French restaurants close on one or both of those nights).
Like all Michelin red guides, the descriptions of the restaurants are in French only. All the symbols in the listings help of course, and if you can read French menus you can probably make out much of the descriptions of the restaurants even if officially (like me) you don't read or speak French. - This is a book that has expert reviews of some Paris restaurants that is in French but even without french the included symbols make it possible to understand the ratings of the different restaurants reviewed. Michelin reviews and rates restaurants around the world and is well respected for the quality of the reviews. It would be nice if this was published in an English translation since English is the de facto standard for travelers to France.
- This was useless. i gave it to a Paris tour guide who can use it more than I can.
- As noted by other reviewers, this is a great aid for eating in Paris -- and planning where to eat lunch. Generally we ate lunch at the less-than-€36 places (Bib Gourmand) and dinner at a local brasserie.
- My eating bible when in Paris. Very happy they have added a new section of good budget eateries to try.
