- Without any indication that this was a mere excerpt, I bought this and encouraged my 17 students also to purchase it. I assumed that spending eight dollars meant that we were getting the full book. I should have done more research. While Newman's ideas and writing are insightful and enriching, this is just a small and oddly-selected sanpling of his lectures on the aims and theory of university education. Make sure you buy the full-length version, not this one.

- Very interesting in order to understand the Catholic point of view of the university by a great thinker. Although he speaks from his priesthood character, his opinions are useful for many non believers. The language was a little difficult for me (non native english speaker).
